I have not forgotten
ours

I am reminded

of its character
when I withdrawal
love

or

I
linger
too long over
a barbed-wire fence

I have not forgotten
the stench
of freshly sunken
dreams

I am reminded
as my hope
is pulled towards
the floorboard

or

when my faith
is twisted
into something
entirely unfamiliar

or

my fingers are placed
inside its
long

cold
barrel

or

when I bite my tongue
and abandon you

I am reminded
as your taste alters
reels of memory

or

taints all sweet

precious
things

I have not forgotten
what it was like
to breathe
underground

or

to fight
for more
than
what
little
ours

gave.
